“The integration part of my job has been really fascinating,” says Lackey, 38. “The job has changed significantly in how we tell our story. My job is still making sure that we're pitching and winning big pieces of business, but my role also gets into how do we tell clients what we do together? And it's going to be different for certain clients. We have different things that we can do pending the client’s ask.”
Under Lackey’s leadership, Droga5 saw its best year ever for new business. In 2020, the shop gained 20 new clients including Allstate, Lululemon and Petco. So far in 2021, Droga5 has attracted big names such as U.S. Cellular and Adcolor.
If you could have dinner with one person, alive or dead, who would it be and why?
So, I've got two young kids and a somewhat demanding job. I'd like to just have dinner with my wife. That’s the one thing that I want to do.
What are the top two social media sites you use on a regular basis?
Twitter, 100%. I’m a sports guy and I like seeing what's going on there. And this might be breaking the mold of the answer a little bit because it's not social media, but I love The Athletic.
What’s currently on your bedside reading list?
The New York Post, hockey section.
What was the last show you binge-watched?
"White Lotus."
At what age do you hope to retire?
Never. I want to do this for a long time and then, hopefully, have two or more things that I do after this.
