Consumers might profess to being sustainably minded, but their obsession with Shein tells a different tale.
The Chinese fast-fashion e-commerce brand was the most downloaded app in the U.S. in May, according to tracking firm Marketplace Pulse. Like rivals such as H&M and Zara, Shein regularly churns out trendy apparel at exceptionally low prices—a sundress costs around $14, for example. The brand is also in growth mode. Earlier this year, it became the first exclusive fashion partner of the Stagecoach Festival in California and hosted an in-person pop-up shop in Las Vegas.
