Frito-Lay, the snack-food division of PepsiCo, has been a longtime participant in advertising’s biggest night. Last year, the brand ran separate ads for Cheetos and Doritos. The Cheetos ad saw celebrity couple Aston Kushner and Mila Kunis bickering over whether Kunis was stealing Kutcher’s Cheetos Chunch Pop before her orange-dusted fingers give her away, as Shaggy’s hit “It Wasn’t Me,” played in the background.
The 60-second Doritos ad promoted its 3D Crunch variety and showed actor Matthew McConaughey getting trapped in a vending machine.
A 60-second ad in the 2020 Super Bowl featured Grammy-winning rapper Lil Nas X and Oscar-nominated actor Sam Elliott squaring off in a dance contest. That game also featured Cheetos' first Super Bowl ad in 11 years, as it starred 80s-era rapper MC Hammer.
A spokeswoman for Frito-Lay said additional details about its plans for Super Bowl LVI—including the ad's length, placement, frequency and stars—would be revealed at a later date.
