Skechers returns to Super Bowl with Mr. T

Skechers is returning to the Super Bowl this year with its Mr. T campaign, which debuted last year. The 30-second spot, released today, highlights the lack of “T” in the brand’s name and the trouble many have with spelling “Skechers.” Along with Mr. T, the commercial also features longtime Skechers spokesman and football commentator Tony Romo. Created by Skechers in-house agency SKX Studios, the ad will run in the game’s third quarter. It is promoting the footwear brand’s Hands Free Slip-Ins shoes. According to the brand, Skechers has had 11 Super Bowl ads, though some of those have been regional buys. Last year, the brand invested in a 60-second national spot, called “All Walks of Life,” that starred Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart, as well as Romo. Last week, Skechers executives called out strong demand for its “comfort technology products” as the company announced record annual sales of $8 billionin 2023, a 7.5% increase over 2022.
