State Farm releases Super Bowl ad teaser featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger

It looks like Jake from State Farm has a new red-shirted work friend to talk shop with at the water cooler. The insurer recently released a teaser of a Super Bowl ad expected to be from Highdive. The spot, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, seems to herald State Farm’s return to the Super Bowl next month. The 30-second commercial depicts a world of uncertainty with consumers looking for help—and that help appears to be coming from Schwarzenegger, who stars as Agent State Farm in a move reminiscent of the introduction of the Avengers’ Captain Marvel superhero. It closes with “Coming soon” in another nod to cinema. The spot is labeled a “teaser” on State Farm’s YouTube channel. The commercial has been running on TV in recent days, including during the San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions NFC championship game on Sunday, according to iSpot. Schwarzenegger played Greek god Zeus in a Super Bowl commercial for BMW two years ago. He has also appeared in Super Bowl spots for the mobile video game Mobile Strike. State Farm made its Super Bowl debut in 2021, then pursued a social media-first strategy during the last two years, including 2023’s campaign with TikTok star Khaby Lame. More recently, the marketer enlisted Jimmy Fallon as a creative collaborator as part of a strategy to highlight the “Like a good neighbor” jingle in its debut work from Highdive. State Farm also has ample opportunity to market itself next month when the brand’s longtime spokesman Patrick Mahomes, quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, plays in the Big Game.
