Everyone is eagerly anticipating this Sunday’s Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show featuring Usher. But there’s one small problem—the R&B superstar has gone missing, at least according to Apple Music’s just-released teaser.
Usher goes missing in Apple Music’s Super Bowl Halftime Show teaser
The spot features Apple CEO Tim Cook, sporting an Usher T-shirt as the big day approaches, FaceTiming with Ludacris, Taraji P. Henson and Lil Jon—who have some bad news for the big boss.
Evidently, the trio was out in Las Vegas with Usher the night before. And now, he is nowhere to be found, somewhat reminiscent of the “Hangover” movie. Tim, needless to say, doesn’t take the news lightly.
The teaser will be followed by a full spot featuring Usher’s friends searching high and low in Vegas to find the singer and save the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show. The full spot is expected to break before the game starts and will not air during the Super Bowl telecast itself.
One place Usher’s buddies might want to check is the sets of other Super Bowl commercials. He’s been a familiar face in the leadup to this year’s game—making cameos in the in-game spots for both BMW and Uber Eats. (He was also announced this week as the face of a new menswear campaign for Kim Kardashian’s Skims brand.)
The new teaser follows a minute-long trailer-style spot for the Halftime Show (below) that broke several weeks ago. That spot hyped Usher’s forthcoming appearance as “One performance. 30 years in the making.”
There has been much speculation in social media about what Usher’s forthcoming performance will entail, leading to a TikTok trend of people making predictions.
In the lead-up to the Super Bowl, Apple Music users have been able to pre-add Usher’s ninth studio album, “Coming Home,” which drops Friday. The Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show, stemming from a partnership between the NFL, Roc Nation and Apple Music, is the most-watched musical performance of the year.
