Watch Booking.com’s Muppet-filled Super Bowl spot

Booking.com has made a habit of tapping a new celebrity endorser for its Super Bowl campaign for each of the last three years. Now, for its fourth consecutive Big Game appearance, the travel booking site is returning to that formula—but with familiar faces who are fictitious. Booking.com’s 30-second ad showcases Muppets including Miss Piggy, Animal, Kermit the Frog and even Statler and Waldorf. “With hotels and vacation rentals, Booking.com has something for everyone,” a voiceover says, noting boutique-friendly options for a certain swine with high-class expectations and cancelation abilities for cantankerous seniors. The ad was again created with Zulu Alpha Kilo New York, the agency that handled Booking.com’s Tina Fey Super Bowl spot last year, and its Melissa McCarthy ad in 2023. Mindshare handled media duties. This year’s nostalgic spot purposely highlights “relatable humor” and “playful moments” of travel, Arjan Dijk, senior VP and chief marketing officer at Booking.com said in a statement. In addition, Booking.com will allow one consumer to book a “Madden Cruiser Experience” on football coach John Madden’s bus. The Muppets are not Super Bowl rookies, with ad appearances including a Ford spot in 2006 and a Toyota ad in 2014. Booking.com reported that 62% of Americans plan to use technology to create more personalized travel experiences this year, according to a survey it commissioned. Booking Holdings previously reported a 9% increase in third-quarter revenue, to $8 billion. It plans to report fourth-quarter results Feb. 20.
