After teasing its upcoming Super Bowl ad for days with footage of a "Brady Bunch" world where "Machete" star Danny Trejo seems to play Marcia, Snickers has come through with the whole spot.
The ad indeed makes use of original footage from the "Brady Bunch," working off a classic episode in which Marcia is hit in the face by a football. In the spot, Marcia is stuck as Mr. Trejo until she eats a Snickers and feels like herself again. At the end of the spot, Jan appears as actor Steve Buscemi.
The ad, by BBDO, New York, continues the brand's "You're Not You When You're Hungry" campaign.
Mars, which owns Snickers, traditionally has not released its Super Bowl spots before the game. But this year, Snickers said it would release the ad early if its teaser generated "2.5 million social media engagements," which could include views, likes, comments and shares on Youtube, Facebook or Twitter.
The brand, which debuted the full spot on NBC's "Today" show on Thursday, told Ad Age that that final results are still in being tallied but the teaser had accumulated more than 2.7 million views on YouTube alone.
