Futuristic, Fun Spot Promotes Launch of Digital Service All4
Editor's Pick
Channel 4's 4Creative takes a fun look at the future in this spot imagining how its output could look in the year 2120. The film, which promotes the U.K. broadcaster's new digital and on-demand service All4, includes trailers for chat show host Allen Car transformed, via some spectacular VFX, into "Alien Carr," an armour-clad jockey on a robot horse in the 2120 Grand National, and, in typically irreverent Channel 4 style, a gay kiss at a future Royal Wedding. There's also a show called "Genetically Engineered in Chelsea," evolved from reality show "Made in Chelsea," featuring multiple versions of the show's flirtatious star Spencer Matthews.
4Creative's Neil Gorringe directed the spot, conceived by joint heads of 4Creative John Allison and Chris Bovill, while MPC was responsible for the VFX. In a statement, Allison and Bovill said: "We are continually bombarded with depressing, post-apocalyptic, dystopian visions of the future where we are hunted by machines or probed by aliens. So we wanted to launch Channel 4's new on demand platform with a refreshing antithesis; as long as you stick with Channel 4 the future will be a liberating, progressively-minded and hilarious romp into oblivion. The only downside is that Spencer will still be around to hit on your girlfriend."
