Arby’s hypes its wagyu burger’s return outside McDonald’s and Wendy’s headquarters

Arby’s wants the competition to know its wagyu burger is back. And to make sure the folks at McDonald’s and Wendy’s are aware, Arby’s has set up billboards and other out-of-home ads touting its burger near each of their headquarters. The signs from agency Fallon are tailored to each competitor. An ad outside McDonald’s Chicago office reads “Arby’s burger doesn't clown around” in a nod to Ronald McDonald. The one near square patty-maker Wendy’s Dublin, Ohio home office carries the line “Objectively, Arby’s burger is more well-rounded.” Arby’s first wagyu burger came out in the spring of 2022 and sold so well that the brand brought it back that fall. The wagyu burger will be available for a limited time this go-round as well. The 6.4-ounce burger—which Arby’s points out is 50% larger than McDonald’s Quarter Pounder—uses a blend of 51% American Wagyu and 48% ground beef, and is cooked sous vide. This isn’t the first time Arby’s has gone after its rivals. For its spicy fish sandwich in March 2022, Arby’s made a diss track with Pusha T aimed at McDonald’s. A few months later, he made another track for Arby’s rib sandwich, an answer to the McRib.
