Burger King is known for taking boring old TV spots and turning them into something completely different, as was the case with the Cannes Lions Grand Prix-winning campaign "Google Home of the Whopper." It continues in that vein with a series of mysterious broadcast ads featuring not much more than a shot of a Whopper. Around the burger a QR code floats and darts about. It’s actually baiting viewers to take a snap—those who catch one will land a free Whopper through the BK app.

The spots, created out of David Sao Paulo will begin running nationally today on April 23 on major broadcast and cable networks in the U.S., though BK won’t reveal just when. Those who do spot the ads will have to act quickly, as only 10,000 free Whoppers are available via the game. (Don’t bother trying to score the burgers through the YouTube version of the spot, featured here. That one just features a dummy code.)
