George Clooney Goes on a Road Trip Through Hollywood History for Nespresso
The Ad Shows How Far He'll Go for the Perfect Cup
Editor's Pick
George Clooney takes a road trip through Hollywood history in his latest turn as Nespresso's "Brand Ambassador."
Created out of McCann New York, the big production spot is designed to show how far Clooney will go for delicious coffee. As he stands under a tent in rainy, gray middle of nowhere, next to a sad-looking coffeemaker, he gets a call from his buddy Andy Garcia, who sips his Nespresso in the middle of paradise.
So frustrated Clooney sets off, hitching rides with beloved Silver Screen characters from yesteryear on a quest for the perfect cup. We see him backseat with Kermit and Fozzie Bear ("The Muppet Movie"), shotgun with Burt Reynolds ("Smokey and the Bandit") and Janet Leigh ("Psycho"), riding alongside Peter Fonda ("Easy Rider") and on the racetrack from "Seabiscuit."
The spot was directed by Untitled's Grant Heslov, a longtime collaborator with Clooney, who directed the actor in "Men Who Stare at Goats" and co-wrote with him the screenplay for "Good Night, and Good Luck." The visual mavens at Framestore helped to stitch Clooney seamlessly into the famous movie scenes. The ad is set to Mel Torme's classic take on "Comin' Home, Baby." It will run in the U.S. and Canada across TV, digital and social.
Clooney's previous outings for the brand include his turn as a coach who schools Danny Devito on the art of being suave, which, of course, includes drinking Nespresso.
