Name a better duo than Dave & Buster’s. I’ve got one: Lil Dicky and Busta Rhymes.

Dave & Buster’s latest campaign stars a literal Dave (Dave Burd aka Lil Dicky) and Buster (Busta Rhymes) for a little friendly competition to fight for dominance of the D&B name.

Created by Ryan Reynolds’ agency Maximum Effort, “Dave vs. Busta” brings the duo together to determine who should keep their name in Dave & Buster’s. The result is a hilarious spoof of a boxing showdown:

The campaign launched Monday promotes Dave & Buster’s new menu and offers 50% off all food for both new and existing rewards members through April 28. To mark the celebration of half-off food, the brand is slashing its name in half.

“Dave & Buster’s has always been about great food plus friendly competition, so what better way than a play on the ultimate showdown of our own two names in celebration of slashing 50% off food for new and existing D&B Rewards Members,” said Megan Tobin, Chief Marketing Officer for Dave & Buster’s. “Busta Rhymes and Dave Burd (Lil Dicky) bring joy to so many people through their music and art so we knew they would bring a perfect level of fun to the ads—and they more than delivered.”
The campaign will run across CTV, digital and with paid and organic social. The inclusion of Busta Rhymes comes a couple of years after a rumor spread online that he and Dave Chappelle founded Dave & Buster’s; they did not. It was founded by David Corriveau and James “Buster” Corley in 1978.
