Party, New York, the U.S. hub of the creative firm behind innovative tech-driven ideas like Sad Tweets as well as projects for Toyota and Trident, hopes to bring fun -- and safety -- to petwear with the Disco Dog vest. The project recently launched a Kickstarter campaign for an LED dog wearable that you can control with your smartphone.

Dog owners can use their phones to make different patterns and texts appear on the vest. Not only does it turn your pup into a mini light show, it also keeps him safe and visible when the sun goes down. Moreover, the vest's app alerts you when your pooch runs out of sight -- and when he's far enough to break the connection to your phone, the vest automatically displays the words "Lost Dog."

"We wanted to explore new business models for our company -- not just doing ads, music videos, and TV shows, etc. for our clients -- so we always dreamed of creating a product of our own," said Party ECD/Co-Founder Masashi Kawamura. "For the first product we wanted to do something that we all loved, which [brought together] dogs and technology. We had a wearable prototype using LEDs and thought it could be fun to make them for dogs."

The Kickstarter campaign has 25 days left to go. It has already earned $8,280 worth of pledges with an ultimate $15,000 funding goal.

"The goal of the Kickstarter is to create the first limited run prototype models and to further R&D with the technology," said Mr. Kawamura. "Our ultimate goal is to take the learnings from this round and to produce the vests in a bigger scale and have them available to everyone as a real product."
