HSBC says, 'Don't print your ATM receipt'

In Argentina, 73 million ATM receipts are printed every month—and most of them are discarded automatically. That's why a new sustainability-focused campaign from HSBC is encouraging its customers not to print unless absolutely necessary. The work, by David Buenos Aires, includes out-of-home billboards consisting of artwork made of discarded receipts. An animated film directed by Javier Lourenço from Bitt Animation also illustrates how the small act of saying "no" to the question "Do you want a receipt?" leads to an idyllic scene of plants and wildlife flourishing. It ends with the line "Don't let the planet pay the cost." The campaign aims to show "that with a small change in our daily habits, we can generate a responsible use of paper," commented Julia Lois, HSBC Argentina's marketing head of retail banking, in a statement. "This initiative is part of an overall plan that reflects our commitment to a more sustainable future."
