This LGBTQ coffee ad is going viral

An online spot for coffee brand Douwe Egberts, featuring a teenager, her girlfriend and her father, is going viral after being retweeted by influencers including "The Good Place" actress Jameela Jamil. The ad, created by BBDO Belgium, is titled "Something to Share" and depicts a teenage girl making out with another girl when they are suddenly interrupted by her father coming home. The two run upstairs looking fearful as he stares up at them, though it's not clear what's going through his mind. Next, he texts his daughter emoji of a trio of coffee cups—and the three of them then sit down to get to know each other better over some Douwe Egberts. After first airing a week ago, the spot, directed by Dr. Bowman at Lovo, has had more than 120K retweets and more than 520K likes on a single share from Twitter user @Sapphicticated. As expected, given the subject matter, people are talking. One consumer tweeted, "Now this is how you sell me coffee and I don't even coffee," while another said, "Totally fine wit wit (sic) this but....what does it have to do with coffee?" More "experienced" coffee ad observers took the opportunity to dig at Folgers' questionable "classic."
