Popcorn just doesn't cut it any more; London's Electric Cinema, an arthouse cinema in the famed Portobello Road, is offering customers a culinary experience to complement their movie. The audience are handed a series of packages of numbered snacks, and at different points during the film they are instructed to eat the snack corresponding to each number. In a statement on its website, the cinema says: "This experience is not just about eating; the smell, texture, even the way your mouth feels after eating the contents of the 'packages' will correspond to what's happening on screen and heighten the viewers' sensory experience."

The events, which began with a showing of Pan's Labyrinth, are a collaboration between Soho House, experience organizer Polly Betton, and experimental food designer Andrew Stellitano.
