Vail Resorts : Epic Mix App
Digital tracking hits the slopes.
Editor's Pick
Vail Resorts in Colorado makes it easier for skiers to track their progress on the slopes with the new EpicMix App. Accessible online or via your mobile phone, the app is enabled by chips embedded into lift tickets and passes that can be read by RF scanners installed at each lift of Vail's five mountain resorts: Vail Beaver Creek , Breckenridge, Keystone and Heavenly.
The system will automatically track data from each skier's rides, including vertical feet skied and days on the mountain. Digital pins will be given to guests for special achievements. Resort guests can see their progress online or on their mobile phones and can also share their accomplishments via social media updates. The mobile app will also let skiers know which of their buddies are on the slopes and will also provide trail condition and resort info, including weather report and traffic updates.
Also in the works is a special site for young skiers featuring content specially tailored to skiers under 14. Parents will be able to use the site to track their kids' lift rides in real time.
