This martial arts blockbuster shows off Audi's luxury technology
Matthijs Van Heijnigen directs spot showing a gangster 'escaping' with the Commodores and glass of champagne
Editor's Pick
Audi showcases all its latest luxury car technology in a new U.K. spot that starts out like an epic martial arts movie, then turns into more of a comedy.
The ad sees two rival gangs fighting it out on a rooftop, filmed in Bangkok. The hero escapes the clutches of a henchman and tensely hides in the back seat of a nearby A8. Suddenly, he's offered a foot massage and a glass of champagne appears as the stereo switches on an plays "Easy" by the Commodores. He puts his feet up and relaxes in the passenger seat of the car, despite the violence and chaos going on outside.
The spot was directed by Matthijs Van Heijnigen for BBH London, with fight sequences co-ordinated by Seng Kawee, who has choreographed martial-arts scenes in James Bond films. It debuts tonight on U.K. TV and will also be shown in cinemas. It's the first in a series of three TV campaigns planned for the brand in the next couple of months.
