A dog foils a castaway's rescue plan in comedic ad from Greenies
Campaign by Adam&Eve/DDB continues the 'dogs don't know what's good for them' theme
Editor's Pick
Greenies, the Mars Petcare dental treats brand, is back with another comedic spot in its ongoing campaign via Adam&Eve/DDB, themed around dogs' decided lack of intelligence when it comes to knowing what's good for them.
The newest ad revolves around a castaway on a desert island. When a plane flies over, he leaps up in delight, but then looks horrified as his dog runs up the beach carrying a stick. The reveal is that the dog has removed part of the word "Help" that he's laid out in the sand. Instead, it reads "Helo," to which the pilots enthusiastically respond from above.
"Dogs don't know what's good for them..like not being able to leave a good stick alone," the voiceover reminds us.
The spot was directed by The Bobbsey Twins from Homicide via Blink, with the shoot conducted and produced remotely during lockdown across three timezones.
The campaign started in 2019 supporting the Greenies brand's expansion into mass retailers. A previous feature of the campaign let people test their dog's IQ, and the lower they scored, the bigger discount they could get, while a holiday-themed spot featured a pooch chewing off a hapless snowman's arm.
