Postmates and Grubhub have nothing over the latest food delivery service--JetBlue. The airline is one-upping popular on-demand meal couriers with its new "Pie in the Sky" program, which will be delivering authentic New York pizza all the way from JFK to Los Angeles.
From May 9th through 11th, the airline will be transporting pies from Patsy's Pizzeria in East Harlem to Los Angeles. Angelenos need to visit www.jetblue.pizza to order--cheese pies go for $12 and pepperoni, for $15. To get the word out, JetBlue and its agency MullenLowe created this video in which celebrity New Yorker Spike Lee instructs viewers on proper NYC pie-eating techniques.
The effort helps to highlight JetBlue's role as New York's "hometown airline" and the convenience of its coast-to-coast travel. "With up to 11 daily flights between LAX and JFK, L.A. and New York have never been closer," says JetBlue vice president of marketing Elizabeth Windram. "So why not connect the two coasts with a favorite from our hometown: New York pizza!"
Ordering begins at 12:00 a.m. pacific time on May 9th. Only 350 pies will be available each day to certain parts of L.A.--customers will need to input their zipcodes on the delivery site to see--like with other services-- if they're in the delivery zone. There, they can also track their deliveries and get notifications of their pizza ETA.
