A doggie puppet version of Snoop Dogg raps about solid gold burgers in Just Eat's Christmas ad
Spot from McCann comes after a busy year of commercials for the hip-hop artist
Editor's Pick
Not content with starring in Sodastream's U.S. holiday ad this year, Snoop Dogg is appearing in yet another, for the U.K. food delivery service Just Eat. Or at least, his doggie doppelganger is.
The spot, by McCann London, has the hip hop artist represented by a puppet doberman, who raps about various food items (such as "solid gold burgers on a solid gold tray") while showing off his blingy mansion. It's directed by Emil Nava, known for producing hip-hop videos, and the full version of the track has been released under Snoop Dogg’s record label Doggy Style Records and Empire,
Snoop Dogg previously appeared in an ad for Just Eat in the summer (in fact, he has been super busy commercial-wise this year, popping up in campaigns for Klarna and Corona. “It’s been a very challenging year for our customers and restaurant partners, but Snoop really seemed to strike a chord in the summer, helping to deliver a little joy when it was needed most, comments Susan O’Brien, CMO of Just Eat, in a statement.
The spot is also the third we've seen this week with a dog protagonist; Microsoft's holiday ad also centers on a pooch and Samsung created an entire music track based on an Instagram image of grinning pomeranian. With puppies high on everyone's pandemic wishlist, dogs are definitely on trend this year.
