Sharks may once have roamed your neighborhood, and with Volkswagen's Shark Week campaign this year, you can picture just that.
VW is partnering with Discovery Channel's Shark Week for the sixth consecutive year, and this year, the brands are highlighting how sharks used to roam the ancient oceans of the Midwest.
The campaign, developed by Deutsch and produced by Discovery Channel, includes an online experience that allows families to explore their neighborhood alongside ancient sharks through an "underwater" Google Street View experience. Until this Sunday, July 30, people can access the experience through the Land of Sharks website. Simply enter any U.S. address into the search field and you can watch a shark swim the streets of your home.
VW also created a short video series to tell the story of a family on a road trip in a Volkswagen Atlas as they travel to various locations to learn about prehistoric sharks that once swam there. Three 60-second films will display the family visiting an archeological site, travelling to a research lab and finally driving in an Atlas to dive with modern sharks.
