Monzo is absurdly better than other money management options in Uncommon’s loopy spot
‘Money Never Felt Like Monzo’ juxtaposes extremely unpleasant scenarios with pleasant ones to make its stark point
Editor's Pick
Money management and banking shouldn’t be stressful, but tracking transactions, setting up payments and more can sometimes be like pulling teeth.
That comparison is the focal point of U.K. digital bank Monzo’s latest campaign from Uncommon Creative Studio. “Money Never Felt Like Monzo” makes a series of comparisons between negative and stressful feelings associated with typical money management scenarios juxtaposed with positive feelings when banking with Monzo.
A 60-second spot (above) compares the dreary feeling of sitting in the snow to the warmth and comfort of sitting in the sun, the feeling of a spider crawling one’s head to a head scratcher, and so on. Comparative still images in OOH assets transform a broken toilet into a beautiful bird fountain and freezing ice blocks into fluffy slippers.

The colorful, absurd film takes an exaggerated but comical approach to real-world frustrations with a service that should be seamless and easy.
“Across the country, money evokes a variety of feelings, usually stress, anxiety, avoidance. However, our customers tell us that on Monzo money feels different, so much so that they’re seven times more likely to use the word ‘love’ when describing us than any other bank,” said AJ Coyne, VP of marketing at Monzo.
The hero film run across TV, VOD, cinema and YouTube. It will also be shown on Channel 4, BVOD, CTV and subscription video throughout spring and summer. The OOH ads (see below) will run across the U.K., including London, Birmingham, Glasgow and Newcastle.
