A determined girl stalks a Santa lookalike in this Portuguese holiday ad

A holiday ad from Portuguese telecom brand NOS tells the story of a little girl who thinks she has discovered the "real" Santa. In the spot, by Havas Lisbon, the girl spots an old man with a white beard in a cafe one day and thinks she recognizes him. She follows him around town, taking photos on her tablet, and then uses the internet to spread the word to the other kids in town. Soon the old man is under siege in his house as crowds of kids gather outside his door. Come Christmas Eve, the anticipation has reached fever pitch—but will there be a twist in the tale? We have a few questions—like, isn't it a bit creepy for a little girl to be stalking an old man (for anyone to be stalking anyone, for that matter)? We're detecting a bit of a trend this season, in which children in holiday ads have been brimming over almost frighteningly with "Christmas spirit," as in this earlier ad from another Telecom company Orange in which the kids border on kidnappers. The NOS film was directed by Marco Martins from Ministério dos Filmes with an original soundtrack recorded in Los Angeles by Nuno Maló.
