Ogilvy crafted a pair of spots, narrated by Cillian Murphy and directed by Bryan Buckley—here’s the first one

Family stories are familiar terrain for whiskey advertising. But in Ogilvy’s first global campaign for Jameson, the family stretches across the globe—and is more about a mindset than blood relations.

The brand today unveiled the first of two stylish commercials, narrated by Irish actor Cillian Murphy and directed by Bryan Buckley. This one features a character named Jose, who is living quite the charmed life. As Murphy intones at one point, whenever Jose takes a wrong turn, things still turn out alright.

There’s a breezy, cheeky vibe to the work—with some Bond thrown in—as we see Jose navigate one mishap after another, which only leads him down the road to more adventures.

 

A second hero spot launches in early 2024 for Jameson Orange, featuring a character named Julia, who is likewise living her best life—despite an unexpected twist or two.

The campaign is launching across TV, audio, social, OOH and streaming in the U.S. before rolling out globally. See one of the OOH executions below.

Ogilvy UK, Ogilvy New York and Ogilvy Chicago collaborated on the campaign.
