Social obligations have gone to the dogs in Sling TV’s latest campaign, featuring Maya Rudolph as a dog owner who’s over the “pawty” scene and just wants to relax at home. But these days, even pets get a catered soirée for their birthdays.

Fortunately, it doesn’t take much to spook the other guests, and her dog Leroy plays the role of rabies-stricken pooch with deadpan gravitas. Back at home, Rudolph is free to “sling in” and watch as much TV as she likes.

“The Joy of Slinging In” continues The Martin Agency’s tack of playing with the name of the product. Previously, bored partners were intrigued by suggestions of “slinging” with another couple. Rudolph herself is a veteran of comedic commercials, singing a “vajingle” for Seventh Generation. That spot was directed by Prettybird’s Matt Piedmont, who also directed “Dog Pawty and worked as a writer with Rudolph on “Saturday Night Live.”

The new spot is running on TV, OTT, digital, mobile and social placements, and additional entries will roll out in the coming months.
