Looking to spice up your Halloween plans? How about facing off against one of horror’s most iconic killers: Ghostface from the “Scream” franchise. For spooky season and the first film’s 25th anniversary, Airbnb will rent out the house where the original’s teen massacre took place, priced at only $5 and hosted by one of the series’ iconic heroes.
Guests who manage to snatch one of three available nights will be greeted by Dewey Riley, sheriff of the fictional town of Woodsboro played by David Arquette. Lots of “Scream” treats await within the home, like all four films on VHS, a supply of stove top Jiffy Pop and knife scratches on doors. Guests can even expect a call from the killer. Scary movie fanatics will have free reign of the house and can spot the many iconic locations from the film, such as the garage, which Dewey calmly acknowledges in his Airbnb listing is “where my sister Tatum met her unfortunate demise.”
In a short spot advertising the listing, Arquette, in character, limps into the home’s living room with a tray of popcorn. As he settles into the couch, a door behind him creaks open to reveal the Ghostface killer watching. In another scene, the actor walks past a stained glass window featuring the slasher’s white mask and jumps. “Every time!” he exclaims in frustration as the words “book if you dare” appear.
The rental will be available for one-night stays on October 27, 29 and 31. Those wishing to claim a night can request a booking on Airbnb’s Halloween landing page, which features other chilling listings, on October 12 at 1 pm EDT.
For those unable to claim one of the available nights, Airbnb is offering a virtual behind-the-scenes talk with “Scream” screenwriter Kevin Williamson, who promises thrilling stories from the creation of the 1996 film as well as the upcoming fifth installment “Scream,” releasing January 2022.
