This Touching Zillow Ad About a Sad Kid Who Misses His Mom Is Designed to Make You Cry
Filmmaker Natalie Rae Directed the Spot From Deutsch

Early on in this ad for real estate site Zillow, you realize that it's gonna hit you right in the feels.
It features a single dad and a sad boy -- and the ad quickly makes it clear the boy is sad not only because he misses his late mother but because Dad needs to sell the house that still reminds the kid of his mom. The spot's also got a quietly plaintive soundtrack -- K.S. Rhoads' "Our Corner of the Universe" -- with lyrics that almost demand that you get weepy: "It goes straight to the heart / We will find a way home ..."
But then the dad, who is super attentive and sensitive, notices exactly why their current house makes his son feel so connected to his mom. And so he uses Zillow to find a perfect new home that allows the boy to maintain that specfic connection. (No spoilers, but basically you're a cold-hearted monster if the metaphor doesn't make you at least a little bit moist-eyed.)
It's manipulative, yeah, but it's also really touching.
Deutsch L.A. was behind the spot. Filmmaker Natalie Rae directed out of Sanctuary.
