Unesco tool reveals cookie dangers by giving you a fake profile
DDB Paris, Makemepulse created Cookie Factory chrome extension to highlight the more sinister uses of AI

Unesco is highlighting the more sinister uses of AI on the web with a Chrome extension that reveals exactly how your data is harvested online.
The Cookie Factory extension allows you to assume a new identity as you browse the internet, using fake cookies. Users can choose from some 40 fictitious profiles, and the extension temporarily replaces their own cookies on all the websites they visit with their chosen avatar’s cookies.
Users will be able to watch as the AI navigates more than a hundred pages by clicking on keywords corresponding to the avatar’s profile. From recommendations on YouTube and Amazon to your history, favourites and targeted advertisements, once these new cookies have been generated,t he browser believes that they become someone else.
The extension was created via DDB Paris together with production studio Makemepulse. It took more than a year to develop , with the aim of supporting UNESCO 's effort to raise public awareness of cookies and help individuals make more informed decisions about their use of AI and what they expect from it.
