Very spreads Christmas wider in earliest UK holiday ad this year

Grey London's ad for the retailer includes birthday, work Christmas and kid-free Christmas

Online retailer Very has kickstarted the U.K. Christmas advertising fest first this year, with an ad by Grey London that nods to its early appearance by showing a family putting up decorations in autumn.

The upbeat spot, directed by Jocelyn DeBoer & Dawn Luebbe via Biscuit, is themed around the idea that "Christmas isn't just one day, it's lots of days." So, Very's gifting options might cater to the various different festivities throughout the coming months, including your work Christmas party, family birthdays, grown-up parties and the eventual gift giving with the kids.

The aim is to show the multi-category offering available across Very, with everything from festive partywear at “kids free Christmas” to noisy presents on “Boxing Day Christmas.” 

“Our customers love Christmas, and we want to show how planning early means more time to enjoy the festive period," said Robbie Feather, managing director (retail) at The Very Group, in a statement. "Through celebrating the range of unique, and at times wildly different, celebrations that make up the season, we have aimed to highlight how Very can truly be the one-stop shop with the choice and range of products, gifts and brands to help people plan ahead."

With U.K. customers facing tight budgets this year amid the cost of living crisis, spreading the fun (and cost) of the holiday could be a savvy strategy.
