Mescall Named President of McCann Global Creative Council; Craigen Joins Innocean
John Mescall has been named president of the global creative council at McCann Worldgroup. He retains his responsibilities as a global executive creative director. Mescall was executive creative director of McCann Australia before he moved to New York to join the global creative leadership team in 2014. He is best known for his creative work on "Dumb Ways to Die," the Australian Metro Trains campaign that is the most awarded in advertising history and at the Cannes Lions Festival.
Jeremy Craigen, the former global executive creative director on Volkswagen at DDB, is set to open a new office for Innocean in Berlin. To creatively lead the new operation, Craigen has appointed Rich Muntz as chief creative officer. Muntz was previously executive creative director at J. Walter Thompson's Melbourne office, then filled the same role at JWT sibling BlueHive Australia as it relaunch the Ford brand there. The new Berlin hub is set to open in September of this year. Craigen left DDB in March, having worked there since 1990.
Grupo Gallegos has named Dave Damman as co-president and chief creative officer. Damman is currently the global executive creative director for Commonwealth IPG overseeing the Chevrolet business. He will take on his new position starting July 18, working alongside Andrew Delbridge, who has served as the agency's chief strategy and engagement officer for the past three years, and who has been elevated to co-president and chief strategy and engagement officer. Damman has previously worked on brands including Subaru, Lee Jeans, Timberland, BMW, Holiday Inn, United Airlines and Pepsi. Prior to his stint at Commonwealth, Damman served as chief creative officer and managing partner at Carmichael Lynch. There, he launched Carmichael Collective. He has also held various roles within Fallon and Saatchi & Saatchi.
Lara Wyckoff is joining Kansas City-based Bernstein-Rein as executive creative director, succeeding David Smith, who recently left, the agency said. Wyckoff was previously creative director at VML and has worked for clients such as Pepsi, Tropicana, MasterCard, L.L.Bean and E-Trade, and smaller brands such as United Rentals, Optum, MedHost and others. Prior to VML, Wyckoff worked for Periscope, Martin Williams, and Risdall. She started Lee Branding with a creative partner.
BarrettSF has hired Aryan Aminzadeh, a copywriter and creative director who has created campaigns for brands such as Virgin America, Kia, Head & Shoulders, AT&T, Aria Resort & Casino and Dignity Health. She will serve as creative director for the advertising agency, which counts 2K Games, Rubio's Coastal Restaurants, Bleacher Report and the Golf Channel among its clients. Aminzadeh joins BarrettSF from Eleven Inc. and has worked at agencies including Saatchi & Saatchi, David&Goliath and Pereira & O'Dell. Her career highlights include Virgin America's six-hour commercial for "Blah Airlines."
Bates CHI & Partners of Indonesia has appointed Ramanathan Balasubramanian to the position of chief executive officer of the ASEAN office in Jakarta. Meanwhile Hendra Lesmono will serve as creative chairman, a newly-formed role at the agency. Balasubramanian served as the managing partner of Ogilvy & Mather Mumbai and Kolkatta, while Lesmono has served as a creative leader at the agency for over a decade.
