Among today’s creative highlights, Pizza Hut leads the final rush to Halloween; Walmart preps an episodic Black Friday campaign; Dolby teams up with Jin from BTS; and Klick Health crafts a 17th century witch story with chilling parallels to today.
11 creative campaigns to know about today
All In Action Fund: A chilling short film by Klick Health draws parallels between 17th-century witch trials and today’s political landscape through the story of a woman on trial for having an abortion. Gandja Monteiro directed the film.
Canadian Stuttering Association: The nonprofit’s brilliant Stutter.ca campaign tops our weekly list of the best creative campaigns. See what else made the list.
Dolby: The audio and video brand teamed up with Jin from South Korean boy band BTS to release a video for “I’ll Be There,” the first single off his upcoming debut album “Happy,” dropping Nov. 15. The video promotes Dolby Atmos, a spatial audio technology. The campaign extends to LoveMoreinDolby.com.
Lloyds Bank: A very fun adam&eveDDB spot for Lloyds Bank tells the story of grandparents who fund a whole family’s vacation—or do they? Nicely shot by Gary Freedman, the spot promotes the Lloyds app.
Meals on Wheels America: The group’s new spot from agency Public Inc. focuses on ridiculous wait times to raise awareness that one in three Meals on Wheels programs across the country have a waitlist—and only 1% of philanthropic dollars in the U.S. goes to senior causes.
NotCo: The plant-based company tests its NotBurgers on aliens with a visit to Hidalgo, Mexico, which has had many unexplained cow abductions over the years. The campaign is from agency The Juju.
Pizza Hut: It’s the home stretch for Halloween campaigns, and here’s a cute one from Hong Kong, where Pizza Hut is hiding spooky images in shots of pizza. iProspect Hong Kong crafted the ads.
Samsonite: The luggage company tested the durability of its new Proxis case by sending it to the edge of space. Working with Sent Into Space, the company used stratospheric balloon technology to lift the case to an altitude of 130,000 feet, with temperatures as low as -85°F. A self-deploying parachute system brought the luggage down unscathed outside Las Vegas. The campaign was developed and executed by StudioHS, a division of H&S Communications.
Seiko: The watchmaker and Godfrey Dadich Partners created a short film called “The Gift of Time,” directed by Paula Chowles, which explores Japan’s unique connection with time through its cultural icons. See the trailer below.
VisitDenmark: Copenhagen is building a new tourism campaign, “A Butter Place,” around the iconic Danish butter cookie tins, which are often repurposed as sewing kits or keepsake containers. A contest asks people to post their own creatively repurposed tin on Instagram—tagging @VisitCopenhagen and including #tintocph—for a chance to win a trip for two.
Walmart: The retailer’s Black Friday campaign, “Deals of Desire,” will feature a 10-part series of spots that parody different movie and TV genres. Actors starring in the campaign will include Taye Diggs, Lisa Rinna, Ian Somerhalder, Anthony Ramos, Chad Michael Murray, Jake Shane and Walton Goggins. Separately, Walmart also released its first Christmas ad last week.
