This sock company is changing the world, one pair at a time

Who knew that socks could change the world? Bombas began with the premise of doing just that, after founders David Heath and Randy Goldberg discovered socks are the most-requested item at homeless shelters. So they founded the D-to-C sock company with a commitment to donating a pair for each sold. Though not a new premise (Tom’s is widely credited for the buy-one, donate-one idea), the company’s socially conscious efforts have extended to a PRIDE partnership with The Ally Coalition, given that 40 percent of homeless youth identify as LGBTQIA+. The brand has also entered a multi-year deal with Sesame Street to raise awareness of family homelessness. It’s involved product collaborations, video and even a large-scale birthday party for homeless children. That partnership led to an increase in the brand’s children’s business by 163 percent year-over-year and more than 400,000 pairs of donated socks. (There was an extended conversation in the jury room about how comfortable the product actually is—but no samples were provided.)
