Drumstick buys its first Super Bowl ad

Ice cream brand Drumstick will run its first-ever Super Bowl commercial with actor and comedian Eric Andre, the brand confirmed today. The 30-second spot will run during the third quarter of the Feb. 11 game on CBS. The ad was created and directed by Opinionated. (A kid-friendly broadcast of the game will air on Nickelodeon and ad units are being sold as one for both broadcasts.) Super Bowl commercials Tracking the latest brand and agency plans Enter here The spot will feature Andre and the brand’s stop-motion spokesperson, Dr. Umstick, on a plane, but the brand declined to share further details. The Super Bowl ad will be a continuation of the brand’s “Another Day, Another Drumstick” campaign, also from Opinionated, which centered on a short film that debuted in 2022 where Dr. Umstick searches for a bride. (Watch it below.) Drumstick joins other sweets brands in the game including Oreo, Nerds and M&M’s. Drumstick was formerly owned by Nestlé in the U.S. but is now owned by Froneri, which assumed control of it as part of a transaction announced in late 2019. In addition to the ad, Drumstick is starting a petition to make the day after a Super Bowl a national holiday. Fans who enter a sweepstakes by sharing how they would spend their #DrumstickMonday have the chance to have their “#DrumstickMonday dreams fulfilled,” the brand announced.
