‘He Gets Us’ is back in the Super Bowl

“He Gets Us,” the ad campaign centered around rebranding Jesus for the contemporary world, will be returning to the Super Bowl in 2025. Come Near, the non-profit that manages the “He Gets Us” ads, will be airing a 60-second spot during the first half of the game. This will be its third consecutive year in the Super Bowl. Come Near didn’t share the spot, which a spokesman confirmed is titled “What is Greatness?” The spot will “explore what Jesus showed and said greatness is and the contrast to how culture defines greatness today,” Come Near stated. Dallas-based agency Lerma/ produced this year’s spot and has led all of the prior “He Gets Us” Super Bowl work. A Spanish language version will air on the Fox Deportes broadcast. “He Gets Us” is also sponsoring a music festival headlined by Jon Batiste on Feb. 8 in New Orleans’s Ninth Ward. Previously “He Gets Us” was affiliated with the Servant Christian Foundation and one of its benefactors was billionaire and founder of Hobby Lobby David Green, who has vocally supported conservative policy issues involving LGBTQ and contraception rights. While “He Gets Us” is now under a separate organization, a Come Near spokesman confirmed last year that Green’s son, Mart Green, is one of the board of directors for the non-profit entity. “The board lends their expertise in advisory roles to Come Near,” a spokesman wrote in a statement. “Strategy and execution for Come Near’s projects (including ‘He Gets Us’) is directed by Come Near’s growing staff—in its first full year in operation, the nonprofit startup has grown from five to 15 full-time employees and enlists a growing number of agencies and collaborative partners in executing the ‘He Gets US’ project to help raise the public conversation about Jesus.” Last year’s in-game ads also received notable buzz online for their art style appearing similar to AI work, although the ads weren’t AI-generated.
