Pringles’ Super Bowl commercial features several celebrities—but it is their facial hair that takes a starring role. The ad, titled “Call of the Mustaches,” finds actor Adam Brody at a Pringles-less party. He blows into an empty Pringles can to summon a delivery of the crisps. Actor Nick Offerman, NBA star James Harden and Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid’s mustaches rip off their faces to fly to the nearest grocery store to pick up more Pringles, scaring a mother and daughter. Even Mr. Potato Head’s mustache is involved in the ad, which is backed by a spoof of the Batman theme song. But the mustaches carrying Pringles don’t quite make it to Brody. The 30-second spot, from FCB New York, will air in the second quarter of Sunday’s game on Fox. An extended version shows mustaches flying off of police officers and out of a biker bar, and buzzing some bird watchers. Last year, Chris Pratt starred as Mr. P, landing a movie role after going viral for his mustache. The work was a departure from years of ads from Grey showing Pringles fans, including Meghan Trainor, getting their hand stuck in the tube and living with it. FCB New York is also behind Budwieser’s Clydesdales Super Bowl spot, which was changed to a national ad after fans gave it positive reviews online. Pringles’ parent company Kellanova’s net sales were down 0.7% in the third quarter. The company is set to be sold to Mars Inc. in the first half of this year.
