Brand Continues to Spoof Movie Genres in Cinema Sponsorship Series

Alien horror is the latest genre to be spoofed by Volkswagen in its humorous cinema sponsorship series where its cars' smart technology prove a hindrance to Hollywood movie scenarios.
This time, it's the car's hands-free trunk opening feature that makes life difficult for the protagonists, who are hiding in a parking lot from a horrific, dinsosaur-like alien monster. Every time the alien swishes his tail near the car, the trunk opens -- and it's difficult to keep up the suspense when it keeps happening over and over again.
Nick Gordon at Somesuch directed the spot, which follows others in the series by Adam&Eve/DDB using the tagline " made for Hollywood. But happy to support independent cinemas." They include a spoof of a Mafia movie in which a remote journey planner gives the game away.
