Sephora is hoping to make shopping for cosmetics easier with a 3D augmented reality mirror that shows you what different colors would really look like on your face. The augmented reality technology, made by Canadian company ModiFace, is being trialled at the company's store in Milan, but could roll out globally. It simulates eyeshadow colors on the user's face by tracking their facial features, to show what they would look like in real-time and without having to upload a photo. Users can simply tap to choose different colors and textures of eyeshadow. ModiFace is also introducing its technology to standalone retail kiosks equipped with a touchscreen monitor and camera, as well as a mobile application that can be used on tablets at beauty counters or on handheld devices.
