Denny’s issues a challenge to America for free bacon
The campaign celebrates the diner chain’s 70th anniversary and sees the revival of its “Baconalia” event.

What do a swimsuit model and entrepreneur, an action hero and a TV star have in common? All three love bacon, according to Denny’s.
Taking the question one step further, the diner penned an open letter in USA Today and the Los Angeles Times last week to bacon lovers across the country with a challenge. If they can identify the model, action hero and TV star Denny’s is talking about, American consumers get a free side of bacon on August 21, while supplies last.
To guess who is who, customers can tag the famous person on social media with #baconalia. If even one of the three visits a Denny’s, takes a photo and posts it, America gets the bacon.
To help narrow the search, Denny’s provided some clues, such as the model “knows her way around kitchens and game shows,” the action star “is no stranger to space and classic rock” and the TV icon “rings the bell for giving extra effort every day.”
The campaign, created with PR agency Finn Partners, is part of the restaurant chain’s 70th anniversary celebration, where it brings back its “Baconalia” event—a play on words referring to Roman Bacchanalia festivals—after a 10-year hiatus. The event features a new limited-time menu of seven bacon-centric items for breakfast, lunch and dinner until August 29.
