Roger Federer may have just pulled out of the Olympics, but he's still one of the most revered tennis players on the circuit, and he lends both style and gravity to this spot from tennis brand Wilson Sporting Goods, for which he's helped to design a line of rackets.

The black-and-white ad, by Los Angeles agency Phenomenon, sees a series of young tennis players each reading out a line from a letter as they play their shots. The letter turns out to be from Federer himself, as he's finally revealed with the words: "If you look at me not as someone to emulate but as someone to one day eclipse, then I designed this racket for you."

Chris Stanford at Rabbit Content directed the spot, which will break as part of a campaign to launch the new line of rackets at the U.S. Open next month. Sadly, looks like Federer won't be playing though.
