Nike unveiled its first collection from French footballer Kylian Mbappé this week. The Parisian-born athlete grew up in the suburb of Bondy, dreaming of playing professionally and looking up to stars who had their own Nike collaborations.

The 20-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best soccer players in the world, and at the FIFA World Cup in 2018, he became only the second teenager in history to score a goal in the final—a feat previously achieved only by the legendary Pelé.

In a seamless side-by-side spot, Mbappés both young and not-quite-as-young train, dribble, score and celebrate—the child version dreaming of a future in the spotlight, and the adult reaping the benefits of more than a decade of good habits.

He studies the game with the same intensity as when he was 10. He still arrives early to train and leaves late. And he still dreams of more. The endline reads, "Love your dream until it loves you back."

The introspective spot from Wieden & Kennedy Amsterdam is directed by Brent Harris via Soixan7e Quin5e.
