Could Your Morning Nescafe Transform You Into a Cheesy 'Legend' Like This Guy?
Brand Aims at Younger Consumers With Zany Spot Helmed by Traktor
Editor's Pick
Coffee can do strange things to you in the morning. Well, that's clearly the explanation for Nescafe Original's latest U.K. spot.
The instant coffee brand has launched a somewhat zany ad through Publicis, London, that demonstrates the effect of a morning cup on a guy leaving for work. As coffee beans rain down on him, he swooshes a long mane of hair and smiles cheesily into the camera to the strains of Whitesnake's classic '80s soft rock track "Here I Go Again." Afghan hounds admire him as he strides down the street, ready for anything, powering his way through the tagline "Leave Like a Legend."
The spot was directed by Traktor via Rattling Stick, and promotes the product's improved flavor. By introducing a quirky touch to the brand's advertising, the campaign is aimed at engaging a younger generation of coffee drinkers.
Dave Monk, executive creative director, Publicis London, describes it thus: "We've basically taken the first four seconds of someone's day and turned it up twenty notches, through the medium of coffee, lens flare, slo-mo and a soundtrack by Whitesnake."
