Rapt dogs promote the quality of Vizio speakers
Canines appear surprisingly human in humorous push for brand's Sound Bar from David&Goliath
Editor's Pick
Consumer electronics brand Vizio is going to the dogs to prove the merits of its Sound Bar speaker—what better experts than those known for hearing things the regular old human can't?
The new campaign from creative agency David&Goliath, “Hear Like They Do,” consists of spots featuring different breeds of furry friends in people-like positions, lounging around watching everything from a romantic movie to an action film or sports, captivated by the immersive audio of the Sound Bar.

“We wanted to demonstrate Vizio’s premium TV Sound Bars in a way that’s as simple, insightful and entertaining as the content viewers are watching,” said Ben Purcell, chief creative officer at David&Goliath, in a statement. “We decided to turn to the experts in sound. Since dogs hear four times better than people, we focused our creative campaign on experiencing sound as they do.”
The realistic dogs in the campaign are just that—real. Photographer Shawn Michienzi took actual photos of the pups in couch potato poses. David&Goliath then teamed up with the VFX experts at Jamm to bring the human pooches to life through animation.
A pug's eyes well up with tears as it watches a French romance film; the mutt watching sports has a beer belly and a cold brew in its paw.
“Watching great TV shows, movies, and sports is a way for the entire family—including the four-legged members—to relax and spend time together," added Jodie McAfee, Vizio vice president, marketing and communications. "This campaign is a fun way to highlight the whole new level of sound you can enjoy with Vizio Sound Bars."
On top of the 20-second-long videos, the agency will be driving social engagement by leaning on dog owner influencers to post photos of their fur babies watching TV with the hashtag "#HearLikeTheyDo."
