Walmart is also presenting a homecoming concert series featuring free virtual and outdoor performances in performers' hometowns. Imagine Dragons kicks off the shows on Aug. 27 in Las Vegas, followed by Chance the Rapper on Aug. 30 in Chicago and Kane Brown on Sept. 7 in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia.
“As a former Chicago Public Schools student, it feels great to be able to be able to perform for students that were in my shoes,” Chance the Rapper said in a Walmart blog post announcing the shows. “In my music, I talk a lot about the impact that growing up in Chicago had on the person and artist I’ve become and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to connect with the community through this event.”
The Kane Brown concert will double as a livestream hosted by actors Noah Schnapp (from Netflix’s "Stranger Things") and Madison Bailey (from Netflix’s "Outer Banks"). The live event will feature shoppable content and give viewers the chance to win back-to-school prizes. The livestream can be found on Walmart.com/live and will be streamed on Walmart’s Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter and TikTok accounts.
“Walmart is thrilled to support and inspire communities as we enter a new school year,” William White, Walmart’s chief marketing officer, said in a statement. “We’re going to show our sincere thanks and appreciation to schools, teachers and students in a big, bold way.”
