An Elderly Man Bows Out From Driving With an Epic Experience in This Nissan Spot
Emotive Ad From Brazil Centers on the GTR Supercar
Editor's Pick
In an emotive Nissan spot from Brazil centered on its GTR supercar, an elderly man gets one last chance to drive with a really special experience.
The ad centers on a senior who has his license cancelled due to failing health, something that happens to many elderly people in Brazil every year. He thinks back nostalgically to his youth and love of driving, looking sadly at his old driver's license photos. However, there is one last hurrah for him, as a young man (his son?) drives him to Brazil's historic Formula 1 racetrack Interlagos and hands him the keys to the GTR.
Created by LewLara/TBWA, it's stylishly shot in black and white by Rodrigo Saavedra of Landia, and the lead role is taken by Mr. Alezio, who was a mechanic at Interlagos in real-life in his younger years and really was given the chance to drive the car.
According to the agency, its strategy was to focus on the feeling of driving such an epic car without making a typical high-octane, overtly masculine supercar commercial, and choosing to instead tell a story that everyone could connect to emotionally.
As part of the campaign, Nissan will invite other elderly folks to take part in #theepicfarewell on a GTR.
