In the past week or so, we’ve started to see humor creep back into advertising and personal projects creatives have been turning out since the pandemic began—a welcome break from the emotional heaviness that has dominated a lot of the work we’ve seen.

The latest comes from creative boutique Gify Tube. The new film, featuring comedian Dean Edwards, bids farewell to all those familiar phrases that were once part of everyday conversations but now are made obsolete by COVID-19.

Set against sad piano music, it says goodby to such lines as “You have a very firm handshake,” “Come in,” “I’m going to make a quick run to the grocery store” and “Of course you can borrow some toilet paper.”

Gify Tube, recently founded by ad vet Matt Vescovo and his wife Nancy, was also behind the recent social campaign from feminine product brand MyBoxShop, which debuted a serendipitously timely tampon ad that seemed to riff off Trump’s disinfectant comments about the coronavirus.
