OkCupid's first Indian campaign features a sweet love story and an all-women comedy tour

OKCupid only began advertising last year, shortly after putting together its first marketing team, headed by global chief marketing officer Melissa Hobley. Now the dating app is launching its first campaign in India, a massive market for services geared toward singles.

The effort includes a spot, “Find My Kind,” in which two Indian 20-somethings navigate the complicated expectations that their families, friends and society as a whole have about the way they live their lives. He dodges blind dates set up by friends, and she is clear that she wants to select her own partner, rather than letting her family do it for her.

It’s obvious the pair would match—if they could ever meet. Fortunately, answering OkCupid’s litany of personal questions brings them closer and closer together. The TV ad from BBH India is directed by Shashank Chaturvedi via Good Morning Films. It's airing on movie channels and channels that focus on English entertainment, and outdoor and print spots are running in major metropolitan areas like Dehli, Bengaluru and Mumbai.

OkCupid also partnered with comedians in India for “My Kind of Funny,” an all-women comedy tour.
