These zany insurance ads will 'save you' in more than one way
Campaign from BBDO Bangkok digs into research findings in hilarious ways
Editor's Pick
A new campaign from Thai insurance brand Roojai Online takes insights from research into advertising into some unexpected new places, with hilarious results.
Created by BBDO Bangkok, the campaign revolves around the idea of "ads that save you." That's both, save you money, but also save you from other harms -- like excessive use of the color green to calm you down, because it's been found that green shades with wavelengths of 505 to 550 nanometers can actually relax the nervous system. That plays out in one of the zany online ads, featuring two brothers having a family feud which even calming green can't deal with, However the spot goes on to remind the viewer of Roojai's suite of services to save customers from financial loss in the event of a car accident or sudden illness.
Another ad leans into the insight that most commercials use deliberately loud music, sound effects, and voice-overs and that this constant exposure to loud sounds can damage our ears. The ad takes a horror-like turn with a woman in a car accident who's about to scream, but is told to lower her voice. She's then handed a claim form by two animatronic kangaroos (Roojai's mascots, it seems) who have risen up from a graveyard.
The online films were directed by top Thai director Un- Wuthisak Anarkapor" from Factory 01. They will be accompanied by a wider campaign, including out-of-home ads featuring cute cats to save you stress on the road, posters with shortcut signage to save you time navigating, and bus wraps featuring meme games to save you from boredom during traffic jams.
Also planned is a night-time radio ad designed to save drivers from turning drowsy by keeping them awake.
“We allow customers to choose an insurance plan that suits their lifestyle, and additional benefits to help customers save more along the driving journey and in doing this, they can also save money by not paying for unnecessary services," said Nicolas Faquet, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Roojai, in a statement. "Our latest campaign and series of advertisements allow us to communicate what we stand for in new and exciting ways.”
