Ariana Grande invades 'Fortnite' for 3-day tour
The 'Rift' tour follows Travis Scott's successful in-game performances last year

Last year, rapper Travis Scott took the virtual stage in the video game “Fortnite” for what would become an award-winning activation. Typically an online, multiplayer shooter, the game saw 27 million players lower their weapons for five days of jamming out in Scott’s “Astronomical” tour. This month, another celebrity singer will storm the “Fortnite” stage.
From August 6-8, Ariana Grande will perform five sets in-game over the three days. The “Rift” tour promises to immerse players in “magical new realities” with "Fortnite"-themed experiences that pair the songstress’s tracks with game events.
The tour's promo trailer features a chicly animated Grande sporting glass-like thigh highs and later a bedazzled white ensemble with matching white hair, a change from the performer's usual variations of brunette. The virtual vistas teased in the trailer include many galactic scenes, a giant horned creature and a rainbow world with bunny-shaped clouds.
The collaboration between the Epic Games title and Grande will also feature in-game quests and exclusive items that can only be collected during the event, including colorful umbrellas, a virtual cat sticker and a backpack pig called “Piggy Smallz Back Bling.”
Players new and old can visit the “Rift” tour landing page to RSVP for events solo or with friends.
